1. Please don't forget to hand patrons their yellow receipt copy when they pay for something at the desk. We need to make sure we give patrons their receipts so if they have any disputes later about their payment they have evidence that they paid. If they choose to immediately throw it away, that's their choice, but I want to be confident that we made the effort to give them their receipt.
2. Cathy Wilterding asked us to pass on the memo that you need to refer
students to the University Writing Center (http://www.tarleton.edu/writingcenter)
for help with writing, organizing, and editing their papers because we don’t offer
those services. The reference desk will be happy to help them find what they need,
figure out how to cite sources, deal with some formatting issues, look up
synonyms, figure out a style’s manuscript guidelines, etc.
3. Lastly, I want to make sure you all are aware of the reset button on the newer inventory gun. If it locks up on you, do try the "ctrl-alt-del" equivalent by holding down the blue, yellow and red end call buttons simultaneously. In the event that it won't unfreeze, simply remove the battery pack from the back of the device and put the reset button underneath the battery. It's all in black, so you might have to look closely for the circle, but once you hold that down for a few seconds it should restart itself and reinstall the software. Do not take the gun up to Chris until you have tried both of these options, since these are the first steps he'd take anyway.
Thanks!
Kym
