Hey Everyone,
Donna sent the staff an update on the parking closures near the library and I thought it would be a good idea to pass along the information. Starting Monday, P12 (Visitors parking that is right next to the library's back door) will be closed due to construction on the roof of the library. They will be parking their equipment there.
The closure of the other lots were delayed because the contractor took longer that they thought to clear the road that is right next to those entrances, and they are still at this point not quite there yet. Therefore, there will still be a short delay this upcoming week while TX Dot puts in a sign that will close the left turn lane from Washington into Lillian. An "estimated" timeline of this is early into the week, then all 3 lots, P10, 11, and 12 will be completely closed.
When they are closed, you can park in the Commuter Parking at St. Luke's on North Mcilhaney Street. (parking is only allowed there Mon-Fri) or P41 on South Lillian St, on that one, you will have to walk across the street, then walk around by Administration Building in order to get to the library since North Lillian Street will be closed, so that one will be quite a walk.
If you work after 5pm, you have much better options such as, P15 which is right next to fine arts, that is probably the closest one. In order to get to that one, you will need to go down Cain St. and turn into from Doc Blanchard Blvd.
For a more detailed visual, check out this map, this is an very helpful map that even shows a walk path way to buildings that are surrounded by construction such as the nursing building, so this would be very useful in helping patrons if they need instructions on how to get to a building. You can see that by on the left side clicking "Construction"--then "Alternate Pedestrian Routes"

Also, if you weren't aware, Kym will be out until July 5th, if anyone needs to contact her please pass along her business card so that they can get in contact with her when she returns, if it is something that we can help them with, let us know.
Thanks!
Ginger
