Unblocking procedure change

We are changing procedure up a bit this semester.  From this point forward, we are no longer going to have a grace amount for university holds.  Patrons must pay their fine IN FULL in order to have their hold lifted.  Too many patrons have been told about this behind the scenes procedure, which is costing us money, so we’re eliminating it.  This means you must fill out a block request for every payment taken from now on.

As Circulation Manager, Vickie is responsible for lifting holds, so please seek her out first and me second when turning in block slips.  Remember that when your supervisor is out the entire day, you need to turn in the slip to someone else in Access Services to ensure the hold is lifted promptly.  I have had too many instances of slips being left on a desk for multiple days when someone is out sick last semester.  It is our responsibility to make sure their holds are lifted the same day when patrons make a payment.

Please speak to a supervisor if you have any questions.
