Walkie Talkies

Walkie Talkie #1 has been having consistent issues with the battery.  It won't stay charged.  Reference has decided that we no longer need to give them a walkie talkie for their area.  I have added regular AA batteries to #1 and it is working, but please do not place this walkie talkie on the charger.  This will likely break the device.

This semester we are going to start a new procedure.  I've spoken about this change to many of you, but I want to make sure everything is clear.

The student currently working in the stacks will be the one to unlock the study rooms.  This change means it is extra important to remember to check out a walkie talkie and also verify it is on and working correctly before you go upstairs.  In addition, the student in the stacks will need to remember to grab the study room key.  Once the student at the desk verifies the reservation is accurate, they will call the student upstairs on the walkie to let them know which room to let the patron into.

With this procedure, we can ensure the desk is covered at all times during the day and we will have greater customer service.

Please ask if you have any questions.
