Laptops

We seem to be having a lot of problems with patrons leaving out laptops or returning them to the wrong kiosk during finals.  When you do find a laptop, it's critical that it's discharged ASAP.
  1. If the laptop is just sitting out unattended, look the laptop up in Sirsi and document who left a laptop unattended (See image below) and leave a note with the supervisor.  Then return the laptop to the corresponding kiosk immediately.  Make sure you stand by the camera on the machine until is acknowledges return so we have evidence that a student worker turned in the laptop.
    1. The wrap on the top of the laptop matches the wrap on the vending machine.
    2. If you scan the barcode in Sirsi, the item title will let you know where it belongs.  It will either be DSL Library Laptop (Vend-Main) or DSL Library Laptop (Vend-Upper).

  1. If a laptop is returned to the wrong kiosk, this means another patron cannot return their laptop properly.  When you're trouble shooting this type of situation, we don't want the patron attempting to follow the rules to be fined.  You can discharge the laptop manually at the Circ desk and leave it on a supervisor's desk with a note.  We will work with Chris to remove the laptop returned incorrectly from the machine.

Feel free to ask questions!
