Some important information you should know about Jan 16th & 17th is that we are allowing business services to use study rooms 225, 231 and the practice presentation room for their offices. This means, reservations will not be allowed in these rooms until the 18th.
I also just wanted to refresh everyone on a few policies and so that it will be here for the new ones to read when they start. We will soon have 4 new student workers.
1.If you are not clocked in, do not hang out in the circulation area. Please wait in the staff break room or another location until it is your time to clock in
2. Surfing the internet is not allowed at the desk, the only websites you should be on should be through the Tarleton webpages/e-mail/our circulation/ILL pages
3. Please do not use your phone while on the clock, if there is an emergency where you need to be near your phone, let a supervisor know ahead of time
4. Do not let your friends or co-workers visit with you at the desk
5. Working on homework is only allowed on weekends or late at night when the desk is not busy
6. When it is slow, in addition to working on tex share cards, making carts at the desk is now a desk task and should not be done instead of going upstairs. Shelving is a priority, so it is important that if there are books to be shelved the person at the desk should be making a cart. If you have any questions about this please ask us.
7. Refer all questions about locating a book and printing to the reference desk.
8. Don't forget to record all stats
9. Check the blog daily for updates
1. Please make sure you are working at the task at hand, any other behavior such as talking to friends or being on your cell phone is not allowed.
2. Earphones/Music is not allowed so that we can give our full attention to patrons that my need help. If a patron does need help finding a book, you are allowed to pause at your task and help them, if they need help finding a call number, refer them to the reference desk.
3. Always make sure you have study room keys and a walkie talkie so that you can unlock study rooms for patrons. Unfortunately, the walkie talkies do not always work great, so if you do not hear what they said, first check the study rooms to see if patrons need let in, if not, go downstairs to ask the desk what they needed.
4. Please remember to write in the book and on the stickers where you started, ended, and the time.
5. Please work on each task equally. We seemed to have a lot of problems with this last semester, so I hope to see improvement.
- If you have a conflict in your schedule, please let myself of Kim know as soon as possible.
- If there are dates that you for sure already know you need off this semester, enter them into whentowork as soon as possible. After about 2 weeks, when we are for sure your class schedules are set in stone we will publish the entire schedule all the way up until spring break.
- Please read the blog post about how bills are now processed, if there are any questions, please let us know.
- On the "fine appeal form" there is a line that has been added that lets the patron know they have 30 days after they are first billed to appeal the fine.
- The vending machine now has headphones
- We now have microphone's that can be checked out
