New Procedure for checking out/discharging books

When you are checking out/discharging a book for a patron, please follow these following steps:

1.) Before checking it or discharging it in the system-- flip though the book to look for tears, pencil marks, or any damages to the spine/cover.

2.) If you find damages, in pencil, write on the pocket what the damages are, date it, and put your initials.

3.) Check out the book to the patron and place the stuffy in the book.

We are hoping this will keep us more informed and have a record of damages that the books have and will also help patrons not get charged for damages that are not their fault.

If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to ask one of us.

Also-- Please be aware of the phone cord when you are opening the drawer with stuffies, the cord is getting stuck in the drawer and is causing it to have a short in the wire. We are looking into other options such as a retractable phone cord, but in the meantime, please be careful.

Thanks!

Ginger
