Stacks maintenance

Hey, everybody!

I just wanted to give a few tips for working in the stacks that may be helpful to you.

1. When you are shelf reading or doing inventory, it's a good idea to take a cart with you. You will probably find a few books that will need to be brought down. Make it easier on yourself and take a cart with you.

2. When you are shelving books and you notice an area that is really tight, do a little shifting. If you do a little bit at a time, it won't get like it is right now in the Ms and Ps.

3. Any time you go upstairs to work is a good time to take a pen and some paper.

4. If you see an area that needs to be looked at... out of order or books need shifting... let someone know (hint: make a note of the call number range
on the pen and paper you take up. ;)
