Welcome Back!

 Welcome back everyone to another fall semester at the Dick Smith Library!  We have a few new faces (both staff and student workers) in the building this year. With the start of a new semester and a new academic year come a TON of new updates!  So without further ado... 

• All of your logins for room reservation have been deleted.  You will use the same login that we have been using for LibAnswers.  Also, you do NOT have to open one in incognito mode, they have fixed this issue.
• LibAnswers analytics has also updated!  Be sure to check out the updated training section to understand the changes!
• We are continuing NOT checking out dry-erase markers for the time being.
• Room 225 and 231 are switching to first come, first served.  There are NO reservable rooms on the upper level.
• On Mondays through Thursdays during the semester, the Writing Center has booked Room 160 from 6-8PM.  The tutor will come to the desk to get into the room.  You do NOT have to check out a clipboard to them in Sirsi.  Just let them into the room, please, and mark that the User Showed Up.  This reservation CANNOT be canceled, even if no one shows up for thirty minutes. 
• The laminator has moved to the Maker Spot!  If anyone needs to laminate something, direct them there (Open 8AM-5PM, Mon-Fri). 
• Because there is no Ref Desk, we will need to start unlocking the room for reservations in the Library Training Center.  Remember, there is no item to check out!  Just mark them as here and let them into the room.

And a few reminders!

• If you need time off or are ill, be sure to let Kim and I know and do a time off request in when to work.  If you know you are going to be out for a trip, PLEASE try to find someone or swap to cover your shift.  This is INCREDIBLY important for opening, weekend, and closing shifts.
• With the start of a new semester comes a LOT of questions about where things are and how to use all of our services.  Please be sure you are giving accurate and clear instructions.  If in doubt, ask!
• With the library being open beyond midnight, be sure to CHANGE THE DATE if you are reserving a room past midnight.  Otherwise... you just gave someone a gigantic fine.
• Finally, be sure to notate on analytics EVERY question you answer... even if its to notate for the 10th time how to print.
