Information

FYI,

The Annals of America have been moved to the reserves shelves. Those are the big red books. Volumes 1-20 of the Annals are located on the reserves shelves, ready to go. They are reference books and do not check out, but you do need to scan them in SIRSI using the MARK ITEM USED option to count them for statistics if they are borrowed.  The LIFE periodicals on reserve will need to also be tracked for usage.  We will have  a daily statistics sheet to track usage of these. Because they are periodicals (LIFE), they cannot be scanned so you will need to make tick marks to indicate usage.

Also, we have a few reminders as the semester starts.

  • Please remember that reference questions need to go to the reference desk.  If they are looking for a book or need their password reset send them upstairs.
  • Texas State Adopted textbooks on the lower level are for grades k-12, they’re not college textbooks. The college books are upstairs in the stacks.  Be sure to  ask the person if the book they are looking for is a course reserve also. The course reserves are located on the shelves behind the circulation desk.
  • A problem that has been happening lately is that student workers are using their cell phones at the circulation desk.  As we have talked about before, cell phones are not allowed to be used while working, even when your supervisor is not around.
  • We don’t want library users getting access to the freight elevator before it closes completely. If you us the freight elevator to go to the upper level, please stay in the area until the door closes behind you when exiting.

     Thanks,

Clay
