Fine Appeals

Please remember that fine appeals are intended for unpaid fines.  When a student pays for a fine it is essentially giving consent that the fine is accurate.  It is much more complicated and time consuming process to issue a refund.

For future reference, if you encounter a student who is planning to appeal a fine but wants to pay it upfront to lift their hold, explain to them that once a payment is made the appeal process is no longer available to them.  When someone asks you for an appeal form, you should look at their account to make sure there is an active fine that can be appealed.  If it's already in the past, don't offer them a form.

Thanks!

Kym
