Hello All!
All-Night Study begins this Thursday evening (technically Friday morning) at midnight! The library will be open until Saturday at 10, reopen at noon on Sunday and remain open until 7 PM Wednesday, the 11th.
Just a reminder of how things work: an officer and I will start to sign people in around 11:30 PM each night. The person working the desk will be responsible for playing the announcements. At midnight, one of us will go around and make sure everyone is checked in. The circulation desk stays business as usual until 2 AM. After that, we only check out markers and laptop chargers using handcheck forms until the "opener" comes in at 7. Your job during those hours is to aid the officer by covering their desk when they do rounds.
A couple things to remember....
1. If the 4AM person does not show up, CALL ME. My number is posted behind the Circ desk near the color copier.
2. After midnight, you are allowed to do homework and have a laptop or tablet at the desk.
3. 225, 231, 159, and 160 all become first come, first served. The PPR is still available for check out, but for PRESENTATIONS only.
4. There are many hours in which there is only one student worker here. Unfortunately, with how everyone's finals were scheduled, this had to happen. With that said, when there are two people here, please be doing tasks up in the stacks per usual. Having someone upstairs, especially at night, helps us to monitor what is going on.
5. Finally, People tend to be a bit more ummmm.... testy during this period. Don't take their behavior personally, but also don't be afraid to get a supervisor to help you out.
Good luck on your finals and happy holidays!
