Opening Procedures

It has come to my attention that some of the opening tasks have not been completed in the mornings. Be sure that you are completing ALL of the tasks assigned for opening the circulation desk and checking the stacks. Signing off on a task means that you have taken ownership of completing that task and will be held accountable if that task has not been completed. For example, walkie-talkies need to be distributed accordingly in the morning to the reference desk upstairs, and once you give the reference desk upstairs a walkie-talkie then you can sign off on the opening desk tasks procedures box. The same goes for when you close at night. When two people open, it is okay for you to divide responsibilities between the two of you.

Also, when an item like a walkie-talkie goes missing, please report it immediately. You can talk to me in person, send an e-mail, or leave a note on my desk. We need to be more aware of what is happening at the circulation desk. I wanted to say THANK YOU to the person that reported a computer power cord was missing as soon as they discovered it was missing; this was the correct thing to do. If you have any questions regarding anything, please feel free to come and talk to one of your supervisors about it.

Thanks,
Clay
