Important information on: TexShare, Maker Spot, Locker keys, & Due Dates.

Hey Everyone!

We had a staff meeting today and discussed a lot of important things so I want to inform everyone about them.

TexShare Card Procedures
-We have recently had multiple cards being sent out and this is mostly due to students submitting their TexShare card more than once. So, we need to start checking to make sure that a card hasn't already been issued to the person requesting it. These will be filed in the black binder that says "filed Tex Shares"

Maker Spot Procedure
Incase a student asks you how maker spot works, here is the procedure that the student will have to do in order to have a 3-D item printed.
1- The patron will submit the job online on the maker spot website (http://www.tarleton.edu/library/makerspot.html) They will click the purple button that says "Submit Your Job".
2- The job will be approved for printing
3-The student will then come to the circulation desk to pay for their item. You will do this just as you would as paying a fine, under their account.
4-The student will then get a receipt that they will take to the maker spot to claim their printed job between 8am-5pm. Make sure they understand they must keep the receipt or they will not get their item.

I blogged about the maker spot return box in the past, but I just wanted to remind y'all that the return container for it is above the return container for the reference books. Next to it is a black binder that have pictures of items that could possibly be returned. If an item does get returned, make sure you use this book to make sure all the parts are accounted for.

Locker Keys
Jennifer and Kym are the in the process of making the locker keys more user friendly since currently they do not have a way to attach a key chain and therefore are easily lost. So, stay tuned for this great change!
But, since several locker keys have been lost this semester, they looked into how much it actually cost for us to replace it vs. the replacement cost we charge, and its a huge difference. Because of this, starting on March 1st, the new price for a lost locker key is $15.00.

Due Dates
Start being very aware of when items are due back, especially if you work at night, because, as some of you have already been aware, some of the items such as markers, and 2 hour reserve are printing the incorrect due dates times on the receipt. Make sure you verbally tell them when it is due back. And if a student checks out a reserve at 10:30pm it is only going to give them an hour, so, let me know and I will change the date for them.

Thanks! and as always, if you have any questions feel free to ask!
