Taking messages at the Circ Desk

I just want to remind you guys about what information we need from you if you're going to take a message from someone.

Write legibly!
  • Who you spoke with (ask for them to spell their out for you)
  • Their phone number and/or email.
  • A detailed description of the problem.  Please do not bank on being present to explain in person.  Your shift might end before you see us or you might forget what you meant to say.  Please be as specific as you can in your note.
  • Your name, the date, and time.
Please leave the note on your supervisor's keyboard so they can immediately address the issue upon returning.  It's very easy to get distracted while at the desk and forget about the note if you leave it at the circ desk.  And always feel free to email us the message instead if you'd prefer.  Our email addresses are on the Wiki.

But remember!  There might be more than one person who can help!  If the patron is looking for a supervisor and not someone specific, you have lots of options.  Kim, Kym, and Ginger are the first line of assistance, but Alejandra and Jennifer serve as our backups.  Please remember that they are here to help you!

Thank you for helping improve our communication!  Please feel free to ask questions! :)

Kym
