Please remember to never place a tumbler, travel mug, etc in the lost and found that still has liquid in it. The contents go rotten very quickly and then we have a very nasty situation on our hands! If someone turns in a cup, take it to the break room and wash it out or let a supervisor know and we can take care of it. Even a little bit of left over coffee can start to mold so we only want clean/dry cups sitting in our lost and found.
If you're concerned with someone coming back for their cup and being upset that we poured out their drink, I'm ok with you leaving it on the counter for an hour or two and waiting to see if they come back. Just leave a note on it that lets us know when the cup was turned in. But any cup we have on the counter definitely needs to be cleaned before closing that same day and stored in lost and found.
