I know it is sometimes hard to tell the difference between a damaged book or just a really old book. So, if you have any hesitation please show it to a supervisor to approve it. Below are some pictures of books that have high damage from silverfish and a live silverfish that was found. And please note that not all books affected by silverfish will be this damaged, however, they still need to be removed so that they do not contaminate any other books. As you can tell from the pictures they especially like "cloth and paper material" books since those are easier for them to eat!
Also, please make sure
when an item is returned to you that has extra items attached to it, audio
books, movies, skeletons etc. that you make sure all items are accounted for
before you discharge. This is important so that if there is an item missing we
can place a fine on the patrons account. If for some reason you do forget, this
is another way you an check who the patron was and put it back on the account.
However, you have to do this right after you discharge. The way you would do
this is by going into display user, and it will show the current users account.
You can click on their name and check that item back out to them. BUT-- if you
start a new transaction, that information disappears and there is no way of
finding out who had that item last.
Thanks Everyone!
