Recently, tables have been returned without being discharged. Here are a few tips to decrease these types of errors.
1) Scanning - Aim, then Shoot.
The table barcodes at your workstation are vertically aligned in close proximity to one another. Scanning in haste may result in accidentally scanning the wrong barcode.
2) Which table???
Be sure that the actual table (either 1, 2, or 3) you are checking out or discharging matches the corresponding barcode. For instance, if a patron returns table 2, but table 1 barcode is scanned, table 2 will not be discharged in the system.
3) Just an FYI.
Technically, patrons are responsible for retrieving and returning tables to the closet. That being said, use your best judgment with this policy. If the patron appears to need assistance with the table, it is your discretion to help them. Avoiding a possible accident or injury is a good thing. As long as the patron is escorted to the closet or in view of the student worker, it is completely acceptable for the patron to retrieve and return the table. The barcodes are at the workstations for the student worker's convenience.
