Alarmed gates

If you hear the alarms go off on the gates please stop the individual...

1. Have them walk through again individually.
2. If it goes off then politely ask, "May I look in your bag to identify what is setting off the alarm?"
3. Look for library items, shifted stuffies, items from a store like Hastings, or a rented textbook. Try to find the sensor, and see if it can be removed or deactivated. If it is a rented textbook or an ILL book we do not need to mess with the sensor; just let the patron know that it will continue to go off each time the enter/exit the building.

Do not give them a stuffie for anything other than Dick Smith Library books.

If they refuse there isn't anything we can do. You can make note of the date and time, and we can follow up on the cameras.

If you have questions, get a supervisor.
